So, it's been a while since my last post. With school, work, kids and wife duties it's been busy around here at the Islas residence.
Just an update on our rottie, we got her back home 63 days after going missing! My hubby was driving to the store and spotted her just a few houses down from ours. Seemed like she had escaped from whosever house she was at. We are just happy to have her back home!
Anyways, Father's day is this Sunay and the kids and I have been putting together a few things for his gifts. Will be posting more about it soon.

Not such a great start...
So, we haven't had the best start this year. Our Rottweiler, Leyna, went missing 5 days ago and it has been a horrible feeling not knowing where she is or what happened to her. It's not the first time she has dug out, but she has always stuck around the yard and comes as soon as we call for her. As soon as we realized she was gone we called and yelled and nothing. We even saw fresh wet paw prints on the driveway which meant that she had just gotten out. We are not losing hope and have been putting up flyers everywhere and posted on facebook as well as visited the shelter, vets, stores, and even drove around the nearby neighborhoods. Our other dog, Roxy (American bulldog) has been quite sad and really seems to miss Leyna. She will howl and cry at night, calling for her bff...so sad...
Here is a picture of our sweet girl.
As you can see from the picture, she is very sweet, and very friendly. I have a feeling that someone saw her and called her and probably don't want to give her back. All I hope is that she is okay and that if she is in someone's home that they are taking care of her and not having bad intentions.
We really miss her :(
Thanks for reading, and be sure to hug your furry friend today and maybe give him/her and extra treat. You don't realize how much you love someone until they are gone...Leyna is greatly loved...and greatly missed...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope everyone is starting off the year right. I am starting mine off by publishing my first blog. yay!
The purpose of this blog is not much for people to read but more for me to be able to jot down my experiences and reflections; and to also be able to record things I learn and of course keep a record of my busy life.
If anyone decides to read my posts I hope that you too will be able to learn and perhaps we can learn from each other. I have added the option for people to comment; all I ask is that you maintain respect and refrain from profanity - thank you!
So I will begin by giving some information about my life. I am happily married to my best friend, Michael. We have 4 kids: Myra, Gabe, Makayla, and Daniel. Our lives seem to be pretty busy but we manage to survive, lol.
For my hubby's birthday; which was on December 23rd; I gave him a unique gift. A gift of time, priceless, right? time, nowadays seems to be precious, it's like 24 hours a day is just not enough to get everything done. Anyways, I basically gave him 12 dates, one for each month. I wrote him a letter explaining how everything works; we will open each envelope (each envelope is labeled with a month of the year) at the beginning of each month and if it does not have a date set then we will decide together when to go. Most of them are already paid for and planned completely. It may seem like a cheesy gift but like a said earlier, time is precious, and marriage is about giving each other time, communication and yes, husbands and wives need alone time, especially when our schedules are so hectic.
So today we get to open our first envelope and I hope he likes what we will be doing this month. I have signed us up for the Hot Chocolate Run. This will be our first 5k run together. I don't know of a better way to start the year than to go to a 5k run together. It is an event Michael had been wanting to go so I know he will be excited.
Well, that's all I have to say for today. If you have read this blog, I hope you enjoyed it. Like I said, I am not looking to the most liked blogger or the most commented one, this is more for my record. Sometimes it is good to just write things away and not just keep them in, besides, you never know who might read them some day :)
